The Sam Robinson Quintet is a premier Chicago-based jazz ensemble that has been a staple of the Midwest music scene since 2003. Led by veteran trumpeter Sam Robinson, the group specializes in straight-ahead jazz, masterfully channeling the high-energy, sophisticated traditions of the hard-bop and post-bop eras. Known for their tight chemistry and dynamic arrangements, the quintet pairs Robinson’s elegant, expressive trumpet playing with a rotating lineup of Chicago's finest jazz musicians, including saxophonist Scott Angst, bassist Aaron Krings, guitarist Jack Macklin, and drummer Chase Wilkins.

Over more than two decades, the band has built a stellar reputation across legendary Chicago venues like The Green Mill, Andy’s Jazz Club, and The Jazz Showcase. While their early career was defined by revitalizing classic jazz standards, their evolution culminated in their acclaimed fourth album, Chasin' the Dream, a project made entirely of Robinson’s original compositions. Today, the Sam Robinson Quintet continues to captivate audiences by blending historical jazz reverence with a vibrant, modern energy.
